An Economic Interest Group was set up on 27 November 2007 to manage the governance of the Institut Carnot Ingénierie@Lyon.
In 2013, the founding establishments and the CNRS, members from the outset, became shareholders of the consortium along with their company dedicated to commercial exploitation.
