To respond satisfactorily to the needs expressed by enterprises, the Institut Carnot Ingénierie@Lyon develops a continuous improvement approach based on the main management system references:
– Quality (ISO 9001)
– Safety (OSHAS 18001)
– Environment (ISO14001)
– Research activities (NFX 50-553)
Objective: to permit each laboratory to undertake pertinent actions in relation with its partners’ demands (Enterprises, Supervisory Bodies, etc.) consistent with its research strategy.
Approach: Planning, implementation and adjustment of research activities in line with the cycle “Plan – Do – Study – Act” (Deming Cycle)
The Institut Carnot Ingénierie@Lyon regularly gathers the Quality correspondents of the research units of its perimeter to:
– encourage exchanges between the laboratories, ensure exchanges of experiences regarding the efficiency of the actions implemented, and identify actions for improvement common to the 12 laboratories;
– generate the dynamics for constant improvement in line with the needs of all the laboratories’ partners;
– provide information on changes made to the relevant standards.
Ingénierie@Lyon’s supervisory bodies have trained PhD students to become young entrepreneurs, most of whom continue to work in close and often formal collaborations with the laboratories. This provides them with expert advice and the possibility of using the test and calculation facilities. They are the vectors of collaborative innovation and transfer.
THE TRANSFER CLUB composed of privileged private partners and partners close to the laboratories, such as VSE’s, start-ups and spin-offs from the academic sphere (some of which are working on research contracts), is a decisive advantage for fostering partnerships.
